APR 12 (PRINTWORDS NEWS)- Adobe is all set to unleash the latest update to its popular CS series of media apps aka the CS 5.5. The number might suggest that it is an incremental update but in reality the new suite brings along a number of additions and improvements to the popular software set. The suite will get the next significant overhaul in 2012. During the launch of the suite a spokesperson from Adobe said in the Soho hotel of London “We’re changing the release schedule to help keep customers ahead of the trends, rather than behind them”.
As has been the case with previous releases, the CS 5.5 will be sold in various versions like the Master Collection, Web Premium and Production Premium. It will be available for both Windows and Macintosh users. Interestingly Adobe offers three new apps meant for iPad and they are Nav, Color Lava and Eazel. When Adobe had released the CS 5 site there was no tablet and now tablets are everywhere. That is why it has released apps for the iPad. Dreamweaver has received a number of upgrades and it lets you preview a site and you can see how it will appear in various web access devices. It supports CSS3 and HTML5. Flash Professional CS5.5 has also been upgraded to conform to newest web standards.
Premiere Pro has got CUDA support for a number of newer graphic cards. The impressive Mercury Playback Engine offers robust GPU acceleration. CS 5.5 is targeted at giving the developers a stable platform that lets them incorporate emerging technologies in the existing framework.
Those who loved Audition would be happy to know that it has made a comeback with CS 5.5. It now works with both Mac and Windows. You can send a sequence from Premiere Pro to this app for editing easily. The new audio engine used in Audition offers support for processors with multiple cores. There is a new surround-sound mixer included with the software. The integration between the apps is seamless and hassle free.
There are a lot of video editors who switch to Adobe suites from industry apps like Final Cut Pro and Avid. Adobe offers identical shortcuts with its apps to cater to the need of these users. However, many more changes can be seen in the final version when it gets released a few months later.
