Feb 25, (PRINTWORDS NEWS) Former LSU center Chris Johnson has reportedly signed a 10-day-contract with the Boston Celtics. The news was confirmed by the team’s official on Thursday.
The 6 foot 11 inch former center of LSU, Chris Johnson, averaged 16.9 point, 9.6 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks per game this season with the Dakota Wizards of the NBA Development League. Johnson, an intrinsic shot blocker had earlier been signed for a 10-day-contract with the Portland Trail Blazers, earlier this year. He appeared in two games for the Port Trail Blazers, leaving an impressive mark on the team. He then returned to the D-League.
Chris Johnson’s inclusion in the Boston Celtics makes him the third LSU bigman on the Boston roster to join Shaquille O’Neal and Glen Davis. “We had him in camp,” Celtics coach Doc Rivers told ESPN.com before the game. ” We needed a body and he can play a little bit. He’s been terrific in [the NBA Development League].” According to statistical reports, Chris Johnson and Glen Davis last played together in 2006. Chris Johnson, then a sophomore averaged 3.2 points.
