Moscow, Aug 1, (PRINTWORDS NEWS) A private motorboat, carrying around 16 people clashed with a cargo barge in Moscow on the Moskva River and unfortunately sank on Sunday. RIA-Novosti, the official news agency of Russia announced the news to the media. The law enforcement officials said that the people in the boat were celebrating a birthday party. Moreover, the police officials declared that around nine people died in this accident. This Moscow River accident is the second mishap that took place in less than a month after the Volga River crash that claimed 122 lives.

The police officials are presently investigating the cause of this accident. Initially they blamed the owner of this motorboat as he had the reputation of ignoring all the navigation rules. However, later the investigators found out that the man died in an accident. Th spokesperson of Emergency Situations Ministry reported that the boat had the passenger carrying capacity of maximum 12 persons, in spite of that it was carrying 16 people. Other boats that were near this boat could manage to pull around six people out of the water and one of the survivors himself swam to the shore. Till Sunday afternoon, all the Traffic was blocked on the Moscow river, owing to the accident. The pictures of the sunken boat have already surfaced on the web and it shows a completely damaged boat. Alexander Chupriyan, the deputy emergency officer said, “After the collision, the motor boat was pulled under the bottom of the barge”.

Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin told a reputed media outlet that the owner of the boat is likely to be blamed for the accident as he had already been fined three times this year for sailing an overload boat. However, he did not specify any more reason for such clash. After this accident, President Dmitry Medvedev has ordered to check all the passenger ships in the country to avoid any further accident.
