March 3, (PRINTWORDS NEWS) Serenna Williams – who has been out of action since winning the Wimbledon in July might have to stretch her absence from the court for two or more years after the player has been diagnosed with a blood clot in her lungs. According to reports, the player had to undergo an ‘emergency surgery’ after the doctors found blood clot in her lungs followed by a hematoma.
According to Serena Williams’ agents, the player was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism early last week and underwent an emergency treatment on Monday for hematoma – a pocket of blood that swells under the skin.Pulmonary Embolism, a blood clot that refrains the blood flow to the lungs can be fatal – although Williams’s spokeswoman, Nicole Chabat, said in a statement Wednesday that “thankfully everything was caught in time” and that Williams was resting and recovering at her home in Los Angeles. “I am doing better. I’m at home now and working with my doctors to keep everything under control. I know I will be OK, but am praying and hoping this will all be behind me soon,” said Williams in a statement. Although reports are sketchy whether she could make a possible return to the court or not, the thirteen-time-grand-slam winner remains adamant of her comeback.
The 29-year-old player hasn’t played a single game since winning the Wimbledon in July. Williams was reported to have suffered a foot injury at a restaurant and she was not seen taking part in any of the tournaments since. Williams career has always been marred with frequent injuries and health hassles.
