Sony BRAVIA KDL-32EX420 LCD TV: Misses The Sweet Spot

Rating 3.00 out of 5

APR 15 (PRINTWORDS NEWS)- The new BRAVIA KDL-32EX420 is among the cheaper LED TV’s of Sony which offers a lot of internet video features. It will please you if you do not want a massive sized HDTV for your home. Aesthetically it is a piece of beauty and jazz up the interiors for sure. The two tome design looks nice on the eyes as well. The dark grey upper bezel of the TV contrasts well with dark brushed aluminium lower bezel. The slight tilt of its stand adds to the oomph quotient.

At the back and side of the TV there are 4 HDMI ports and a couple of USB ports. To connect it to the web you will have to use its Ethernet port. It is strange that Sony has not bundled WiFi in it while so any other HDTVs come with this feature. You can plug in a WiFi dongle to its USB port of course if you think so. You get the Sony Internet TV suite with this model. To access the streaming web channels you will require a fast enough Internet connection. It also offers BRAVIA Internet Video – a kind of on-demand video service.

Sadly the 32 inch TV offers a HD Ready 1366×768 pixels resolution. This means the Blu Ray discs will be downscaled on its 32 inch screen. Having said that, this model is ideal for watching HD movies and TV content. Now you can get a TV with 1080p resolution support for some more. The LED edge-lighting of the BRAVIA EX420 performs better than a traditional CCFL backlight based HDTV. When you watch 1080p footage on its screen the detail is lost to an extent and this is evident in dark scenes. It will fit your bill if you can live with its JHD Ready resolution and do not need integrated WiFi.
