Rating 3.00 out of 5

APR 20 (PRINTWORDS NEWS)- In recent times the PC makers have been trying their level best to woo the users with colorful and creative designs. While Dell has been trying to impress the users with its interchangeable lids with graphic designs Sony the Japanese giant has opted for vibrant and bright colors. The new VAIO CA series comes in some really dazzling hues and the green one is shockingly florescent. These family oriented laptops feature Intel’s new Sandy Bridge architecture. The pink and orange models also offer plenty of eye candy. For the more serious users the black and white models are there.

The build quality of the VAIO CA series is solid as is the case with most laptops from Sony. The keyboard is easy to use and it is not much noisy as such. It adheres to the popular chiclet format. The keys are backlit and at night they help you to work amidst darkness. The laptop’s touchpad is also easy on the hands. The 14 inch screen of the laptop has a decent 1366 x 768 resolution and the display is notable for its superb contrast level. Sony packs in a good ambient light sensor that adjusts the screen brightness level in various lighting. However, the glossy coating of the screen also makes it suffer from reflections.

The HD webcam of the VAIO CA series is ideal for video chatting and it is a boon for the Skype users. Sony offers three shortcut buttons for various media and security related tasks. It is quite shocking that Sony has offered only a 250GB hard disk with this model. This is strange since most models come with 500GB HDD these days. For connectivity there is Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11n Wi-Fi support.

There is one USB 3.0 port meant for faster data transfer. For connecting to an external display there is a HDMI port. The VAIO CA series sports an Intel Core i5-2410M CPU running at 2.3GHz speed. It also offers 4GB of DDR3 RAM. The presence of a powerful AMD Radeon HD 6470M GPU makes it suitable for playing latest games. The power guzzling hardware does take a toll on its battery life though.
