Tampa, Florida, Aug 18, (PRINTWORDS NEWS) The Tampa police has successfully thwarted a troubled teen’s plan to bomb his former school to rival the massacre of 1999 and kill near about 30 students just on the first day of its class. 17 years old Jared Cano was arrested on Tuesday night, after someone informed police about his destructive plan of planting pipe bombs at Freedom High School in Tampa following Tuesday. Jane Castor, the police chief told reporters that they have thwarted “potentially catastrophic event”, which the people of Tampa has never witnessed and hopefully they never will. The law enforcement officials said that Jared Cano was previously arrested on many juvenile charges.

The authorities said that the 17 year old was expelled from the school about a year ago for one of the off-campus incident. When the officials searcher Jared Cano’s home, they found out a detailed “manifesto” of the whole bomb plan, along with every minute account and layout drawing of places where hoped to plan the bombs. Moreover, they found various components of bomb like shrapnel, fuel, fuses, timing devices and plastic tubing in his room. Jane Castor said that the teenager had the wish to cause more fatality than last Columbine massacre in 1999. John Newman, the Police Major told reporters that the law enforcement officials are “very, very familiar with him” as he has been arrested before on several occasions.

The principal of the school, Chris Farkas was shocked to hear the news. However, he also added that he doubts if the plan was realistic enough to be successful. Police chief Jane Castor refused to talk about the psychological state of Jared Cano. “We’re not in the business of diagnosing the mental health of individuals”, he said. On Wednesday’s hearing the prosecutors said that the boy has verbally accepted his bombing plan. Jared Cano will appear again in court on September 5.
