APR 20 (PRINTWORDS NEWS)- There is a common perception among the laptop users that choosing an ultraportable means compromising on the performance front. This can be true to an extent for the netbooks but some of the present generation ultra portables perform almost at par with their desktop counterparts. If you cannot buy the high end models like the Apple MacBook Air or the sleek Samsung 9 series then you should consider the Toshiba Portege R835-P50X which performs well and delivers solid bang for the buck. It also exudes oomph for sure.
Toshiba uses a blend of plastic and metal in this model and crams in an optical drive which is something you do not get in most of the rival models. Its build quality is god overall but cannot really match that of either Samsung 9 series of Apple Macbook Air. The 13.3 inch screen of the laptop has a glossy coating which of course is prone to reflections. It sports a 1366×768 resolution. The keyboard is a joy to use and it follows the popular chiclet layout. However, it lacks a backlight. The touchpad is quite easy to use.
The laptop offers a combo USB 3.0 and eSATA port which is great for speedy data transfers. You also get a HDMI port. It comes with a lot of wireless connectivity options. You get Intel’s Wireless Display 2 (WiDi2), WiMax and 802.11n Wi-Fi built in. Now that gives you a lot of connectivity choices. The WiDi2 standard supports streaming of FullHD content from the laptop to a HDTV.
The sound system of the laptop is not that good compared to its other hardware. The 2.1GHz Intel Core i3-2310M CPU helps the laptop to deliver god results in CPU intensive apps. It beats all its rivals hands down in battery life and its battery lasts for over 9 hours on a single recharge.
