Rating 3.00 out of 5

APR 20 (PRINTWORDS NEWS)- The PC makers are unleashing their newest models equipped with Intel’s sandy Bridge architecture based CPUs. Toshiba is not in a mood to let rivals like Dell and HP have a free run and it has come up with a number of Sandy Bridge CPU based laptops in recent times. The new Satellite M645-S4116 joins the bandwagon with lots of features and impressive performance. The laptop has a black body with the lid textured to thwart smudges and finger marks. The chiclet style keyboard is also present as is the case with many Toshiba laptops. The keys give excellent tactile feedback. The widescreen 14 inch display has a resolution of 1366×768. It is a tad heavy for its category.

The Toshiba satellite M645-S4116 is powered by a beefy Core i5-2410M CPU that runs at a speed of 2.3-GHz. However, the speed can go up to 2.9 GHz thanks to Intel’s Turbo Boost mode. This is aided by 6GB of RAM which translates into lag free performance in almost any apps and smooth multitasking. The Intel HD Graphics 3000 graphics solution is there as well as a 500GB HDD. Toshiba offers Windows 7 Home Premium edition OS with this model.

The inclusion of HDMI port is great for movie buffs and it lets you connect the laptop to a HDTV and play back content on the large screen smoothly. Owing to the USB 3.0 port you can transfer large volumes of data quickly. The M645-S4116 sports Intel’s Wireless Display (WiDi)technology which is great if you hate using wires in your room. The hard drive is also protected by an impact sensor.

The CPU RAM combo helps the laptop to race ahead of a lot of rival models in media apps and CPOU intensive tasks. However the Intel HD Graphics 3000 GPU is not targeted at gamers and it is more HD friendly. However, it can still run some of the demanding games which other laptops with integrated graphics cannot. This is not a gaming laptop in the first place. The laptop has a 48 wh battery which lasts for close to 4 and a half hours.
