Zetas Cartel Leader Jesus Enrique Rejon Aguilar Arrested

Mexico City, July 5, (PRINTWORDS NEWS) The law enforcement officials of Mexico arrested the senior leader and founder of drug gang Zetas. The security ministry of America announced that Jesus Enrique Rejon Aguilar, who is known as “El Mamito” may have some link in killing an American agent, early this year. The Mexican Police said that the Cartel leader is suspected to be behind many deaths in Northeastern Mexico. The authorities of Mexico called Rejon as “one of the leaders and founders of the Zetas criminal organization”.

The chief of anti-drug division of Mexican federal police, Ramon E. Pequeno said that Jesus Enrique Rejon Aguilar was the member of elite forces of Mexican Army. He left his job in February 1999 and the next month he joined the anti social group, which founded Zetas. The public safety secretary of Mexico said in his statement Rejon has a connection to the attack against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Jaime Zapata, who was killed in February. Ramon E. Pequeno also added that Rejon was in charge of the operation of San Luis Potosi When the Zetas ambushed American agents. He said, “When [U.S. agent] Jaime Zapata was murdered on February 14, El Mamito was in San Luis Potosi, coordinating actions perpetrated by the Zetas”.

Pequeno also added that the Cartel leader was arrested in Atizapan de Zaragoza on Sunday, in Mexico State. He said that the Zetas leader had been arrested “without a shot being fired”. The public security ministry of Mexico also said that a police officer has also been detained along with “El Mamito”. The law enforcement officials obtained money, weapons, communication equipment and many documents from Jesus Enrique Rejon Aguilar. Rejon is said to be the third most powerful leader of the Zetas drug cartel. According to the public security ministry of Mexico, the arrest of this drug cartel leader is “a triumph for the Mexican government”.
